Shell, Chevron and Danos Partner with the Bayou Community Foundation and Mennonite Volunteers to Rebuild Homes in Lafourche Parish

With donations from community partners Shell, Chevron and Danos, the Bayou Community Foundation and Mennonite volunteers came together to rebuild homes destroyed by Hurricane Ida. Together, they hope to build 20 new homes for residents from La Rose to Grand Isle, many of whom have been living in FEMA trailers since the hurricane made landfall in August of 2021.

The Mennonite Disaster Service’s Aid Group has been assisting in rebuild efforts in Louisiana since Hurricane Katrina devasted Gulf South communities in 2005. The Bayou Community Foundation helps transport volunteers from their homes nearly 1,200 miles away in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, to Larose, Louisiana, where many of them stay for a week, sometimes a month, helping those in need.
